Mental Health: Run away!

Not shoe is more comfortable than my Nike darts.
Today, I'm going to suggest something a little bit unorthodox...
I want you to run away from your problems. Literally.

I want you to get off the internet, put on your trainers, leave your abode and run as fast and as far away as you can (without getting lost).

Why? Because although we may not be able to solve all of our problems today, we can sure as hell run away from them and escape for an hour. Yes, I know it's common knowledge and generally advised that one should face their issues head on and not run away... but we don't have to spend every waking minute addressing our problems.

We need to take a break every now and then because we're only human.
Don't be consumed by your demons!

Running will help because it will give you a chance to breathe. If you don't want people to see you running, despite just how attractive it is, go in the evening when it's dark (just be careful) or super early when everyone in their right mind is still fast asleep in bed.
The cool fresh air will do you wonders.

And we all know, exercise is highly recommended great stuff.
It releases endorphins that give us a euphoric feeling, ever heard of a runners-high? Plus, with regular running or exercise we can easily improve our bodies and therefore our self-esteem. Which a lot of people have issues with.

I try to go running every week with my boyfriend, usually on an evening, although sometimes i'm just too tired. When I run, I pretend I am actually running away from something because it really spurs me on and I can't keep up with Frankie any other way. It's also great to alternate your speed. Jog for a bit, sprint for a bit etc... (I sprint when the fictitious monster is right behind me!)

Also, a great idea is to listen to music when you run. Create a running playlist and then off you go! I like to listen to badass songs such as 'Break Stuff' by Limp Bizkit, they really motivate me.

Another good thing to do when you're feeling down and especially when you feel numb is to go out for a short run in the pouring rain. Why is this good? Because you feel. You feel the rain on your skin. You feel the cold from this rain. You feel awesome because you're running against and despite the elements. And if you stand at the top of a hill, arms wide and close your eyes, you feel just like you're in a movie (at least, I do).

This is a better, healthier way to experience feeling. Now, go catch a cold!
